After releasing our Autotrickler based Billet Powder Cup, we got a lot of requests for a replacement RCBS Chargemaster pan and saw some room for improvement.
Introducing, the Area 419 Billet Chargemaster Powder Cup system. This system includes a replacement load cell tray turned from 6061-T6 aluminum, as well as the long handled cup as well. We designed the tray to sit much lower on the scale so we could make the cup as tall as possible without interfering with the spout. The tray/cup have a tapered interface so that the cup always sits in the exact same location. The bottom of the cup is also dished so that if you get one or two kernels on the tray, it wont affect how the cup sits.
Cup is roughly 2″ in diameter and 1″ tall. The handle sticks out about 3″. Weight is roughly 700 grains for the cup, this does not reduce the capacity of the scale though, as you can still put 1500 grains in it…if it would fit, you can physically fit around 400 grains of Retumbo in it for reference.

Construction is solid. This particular version is not a perfect fit for the Chargemaster Supreme. Some quick (easy) modifications and I was dropping perfect powder charges.

I’ve only used it to measure out some H335 for 223 load development so far, but I really like what I’m seeing so far. The quality is definitely top-notch. I expect that this should reduce my drift issues with the extruded powders I usually run in my Chargemasters pretty significantly.

This is a great upgrade for the RCBS Chargemaster 1500. Like others have said, the included load cell tray fits perfectly and the cup centers nicely on top of it every time with barely any thought. The cup’s handle makes it was easier to grab and manipulate it. The only thing you have to cognizant of is removing the cup from the load cell tray so you don’t accidentally contact the dispensing tube and knock a few extra grains into the cup.

So, this seems like a frivolous purchase at first, but it actually makes it easier to use my chargemaster. The long handle makes it so easy to remove the cup without hitting the discharge tube. The heavy weight of it softens the shakes, after a few too many cups of coffee. The platen is nice, as well.

Just purchased the Area 419 Powder cup for my RCBS Chargemaster 1500. Wow. This works very very well. I’ve used a carbon made cup which was ok, but nothing like this powder cup. The load cell tray fits perfect and does lower the cup. What’s really nice is the tray/cup interface guarantees the cup is centered. Very nice product. Definitely faster reloads with this system.
