New from Area 419, our straw replacement for your Auto Trickler housing. We designed this replacement to give you a smoother, worry-free powder drop into your Area 419 Powder Cup. The offset through-hole and specific height help to eliminate splashing kernels, while keeping the drop inside the edge of the powder cup.
This straw replacement will ONLY work with our Auto-Throw housing. Since we thread mill both pieces, we can control where the spout ends up. As pictured is where we like it and where it SHOULD end up (thickness of lid will vary and change the timing). That said, we are including an o-ring that you can sandwich between this piece and the lid to allow you to “time” the location of the spout a reasonable amount.
NOTE: We released the replacement FX Scale platen HERE. The platen, straw replacement, and a new windscreen lid will be available as a kit when we have them complete, expect this to be mid December. We will not offer discounts on the second and third products. Be aware that buying them individually and getting them sooner will come with the incremental cost.

Area 419 straw,platen, and cup results in more kernals landing outside the cup than the Area 419 platen, cup and Autotrickler stock straw combination. I loaded another 60 rounds without straw insert with same results – .60 grains of powder outside cup. If you do not mind cleaning up then possibly an option for you. Functionality is just not as expected despite straw being closer to cup opening than the stock straw.

I had a after markert lexan wind screen and I had issues with it spilling powder about every throw with and without the baffle. I do machine work so I made a aluminum tube to go over the spout and extend it down about a 1/4″ and it works awesome now.

Definitely needs instructions for assembly. Internal baffle was out of position and what fun it was to figure out how to get it in correctly. Also, the o-ring is worthless. What is needed is maybe some shims. The o-ring was too thick and not using it places the powder throw at 180° out of position. Not a big deal, but a deal none the less. I will probably try making a shim. With that said, once everything was assembled correctly, it works good. I don’t know if it’s $40 good, as the old one worked too. But it is a good looking, functional piece.

Seems to work perfectly. The only down side was that there were no instructions on how to properly set up the baffling. I took a guess and it seems to work. I put mine on the original V3 unit, not Area 419’s. I also had Area 419’s clear top. So I had to use the rubber gasket that was sent with the package. The issue I had, was that the fit was really tight and had a lot of trouble trying to screw it on to the threads. You have to really push on it, up into the threads to get it to make contact with the threads. So beware of that too, if you are using the same setup as mine.

Great product. I have a V3 trickler. I found that a smaller diameter O ring will work better, 3/32 width worked for me to time/ clock the trickler on top of the clear plastic lid better

Wasn’t quite what I was expecting. I was hoping it would solve the problem of kernels bouncing out on to the scale. I tried multiple positions and kernels still bounce out. I wish the Area419 tray was clear like the one that comes with the a3 because I like being able to see the powder in it. I think it is the shape of the glass on the stock a3 tray that causes the kernels to bounce out.

Cool product, the glass AutoTrickler powder cup will not slide easily under this straw with the 419 lexan lid in place so I am not currently using this straw. I will probably end up ordering the 419 powder cup.

Hey Anthony – the O-Ring is included for customers using Gen-2 Auto-Trickler Thrower Housings. This allowed customers to “time” the outlet of their funnel. On Gen 3 units the threaded stem on bottom of the thrower is fairly short, so the use of the O-Ring is not possible.

Works well but I had to go to Ace Hardware and get a proper sized o-ring so it could be timed correctly with the clear cover. The one which came with it was too big in diameter and too thick. And the timing was horrible without it since I have the trickler on the right side. Would be nice to have a small instruction with it for the removable piece which came out, not sure if it should be open to the hole or opposite or whatever. No views on website either.
