Muzzle threading is performed on the lathe with a single point carbide threading tool. The barrel is indicated coaxially to within 0.0002″ of bore centerline. Threads are cut to a class 3A fit, you’ll find almost no “wobble” when installing muzzle devices with these threads. Area 419 cuts 100% of our threads to a SPEC, not to a muzzle device (ie brake). This means you will never have an issue threading a class 3 threaded suppressor onto your muzzle that was threaded for a class 2 brake. Threads are gaged with either calibrated ring gages or a Mitutoyo thread micrometer to ensure they are within spec.
IMPORTANT: Unless specifically noted, services do not include the product to be altered. For instance, an action truing does not include an action and a barrel chambering does not include the cost of a barrel. These items are available for purchase, or can be shipped to Area 419 for service.
- Excessively dirty barrels will be charged a fee for cleaning. A very clean bore is essential to indicating the barrel in for threading.
- Barrels less than 24″ from muzzle to recoil lug will be assessed a fee on a case by case basis. These barrels will need removed from the receiver in order to properly indicate in the lathe. Fee will vary based on difficulty of removal from receiver.
- Proof Research and other carbon fiber wrapped barrels will be assessed a $50 upcharge due to additional fixturing and time required to thread.
